After graduating from Adelphi University, David Debin began his show business career as an Equity Stage Manager for touring musical comedies and wrote lyrics for a Broadway show. He has written and produced numerous television works in Hollywood for NBC, CBS, Columbia, MGM, Disney, Warner Bros., and Fox. An author of 3 novels and 3 non-fiction books, he is a member of the Writer’s Guild of America, the Mystery Writers of America and the Author’s Guild. More recently, in 2012 he wrote and produced a comedy pilot for Mexican TV, “The Mexico City Angels,” about a Mexican professional soccer team. He has taught Creative Writing courses at Antioch University Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College.
Starshine Roshell is an author and journalist who writes for newspapers, magazines and websites. Santa Barbara knows Starshine for her lifestyle column in the Independent; nationally she’s known as the irreverent author of the Tough Love advice column for TheWeek.com. Starshine writes marketing copy for online education company lynda.com and travel stories for Westways and 805 Living magazines. She has written several books including the recent Keep Your Skirt On and Wife on the Edge. Experienced as a hard news reporter and rock music critic, Starshine has interviewed George Clooney, Ellen Degeneres, and Tom Hanks, as well as taught journalism at UCSB and Santa Barbara City College. She has received California Newspaper Publishers Association awards for both column-writing and business and financial reporting. Her work has been published in the New York Post, Hollywood Reporter, Roanoke Times, Ventura Star, Santa Barbara Magazine, Miller-McCune, Texas Journey, Destination Wine Country, USC Trojan Family, Parenting OC, Ithaca Child, Broward Family Life, and more.

Paul Wellman is the staff photographer and photo editor for The Santa Barbara Independent. He got his start at the weekly newspaper in 2001 as an amateur photographer working part-time in the editorial production department scanning photos and doing basic page layout. Eighteen months later, he took over the full-time job. Paul and his camera bag have since covered many miles of Santa Barbara County and beyond, shooting concerts and court cases, pop stars and politicians, portraits and protests, spot news and sports, festivals and fires. His work has also been featured in dozens of publications including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and National Geographic.
Shirin joined NewsChannel 3 in 2011. as their co-anchor at 5 and 6pm and reports live every night at 11.She was assignment editor for the CNN Los Angeles bureau and assisted with producing shows on both CNN and Headline News. Shirin was entertainment anchor and producer for PBC TV (Persian Broadcasting Co.) in Calabasas. She graduated from UCLA with a BA in Communications,and continued her studies in UCLA’s TV Journalism Program.While at UCLA, she joined a non-profit called “Corazon De Vida”, to support children in orphanages in Mexico.
